Often I receive questions like, “Brother, how can I apply for Erasmus Mundus? When is the deadline to apply? What are the requirements to apply? what is the criteria for selection?” and so on. Searching the Erasmus Mundus programs
First, head over to the official catalogue page of Erasmus Mundus program catalogue. At the time of this writing, there were 214 programs offered. You can filter the programs by some Keywords such as Cybersecurity, or by mobility Country, or by duration and credits (however, all EMJM programs are offered for 24-months), Universities, Field of study, or year of project selection by european union.
For example, you can see the results when I filter by keyword: Cybersecurity, it shows two programs: CYBERUS and CYBERMACS.
This step is crucial to figure out the different programs that are suitable for you. Choose wisely, and note down them. Don’t just focus on the big names. Sometimes the lesser-known programs offer incredible opportunities with less competition!
Inspecting the Erasmus Mundus programs
Now, you have found some programs relevant to your education background, interest, and field of study. Now, we will inspect each program in detail for their requirements, selection criteria, documents needed, and overall application process. Either search the program name in google to find it’s official website, or sometimes you can find it via the above result page. By whatever the means, you should now be visiting the specific program’s website. THIS IS ALL YOU NEED.
Few things you will specially pay attention here are:
- Program’s overview – course content, syllabus, and what to expect from the program.
- Program Tracks: Erasmus Mundus Joint Master’s degree offer different specialization tracks. Thus, be familiarise with them and know which one sounds better for you, and your profile. Know your strength – and target that specialisation track.
- Different statistics – on how many students have applied to this program before. This will hint you about the competitiveness of the program.
- program’s requirements: pay attention to the GPA requirements, or other requirements such as english language proficiency. Also, note whether PTE is accepted as language proficiency or not. Some programs also accept if your bachelor’s study was in English-based. Look through all these information.
- Program’s selection criteria: Some program emphasis on academic performance, while other may emphasis on different aspect such as your personal motivation, your suitability for the program, your previous achievements and contributions etc. Knowing How selection happens – may enlighten you towards being well prepared for it.
- DEADLINE – when the new application opens, and closes. Most of the Erasmus Mundus program open their application from October to early February. Check frequently the website of your specific program to know when they are opening their registration. Be cautious, as if you miss the deadline – all your effort goes into vein.
